Bollywood will play it safe in 2006 by remaking old hits
Barely has the year 2005 breathed its last that the audiences are ready queue in for new films. If not anything, many, despite not liking the idea of the remakes, are waiting for Don that Farhan Akhtar is making. Sholay, that Ram Gopal Verma has decided to come up with and J.P Dutta's attempt to capture the poetess-courtesan of Lucknow in Umrao Jaan. Not only remakes, 2006 seems to be year of sequels too. Munna Bhai part II, Dhoom - 2 and Koi... Mil Gaya part II are waiting to be released. While Munna Bhai Part II that is tentatively titled Munna Meets Mahatma will see some new faces, Dhoom - 2 has Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai in grey shades and Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in the lead. The new Don is Shah Rukh Khan who plays Amitabh Bachchan's role while Priyanka Chopra would be the new Zeenat Aman.
You would never find the Big B taking rest. This week Raj Kumar Santoshi's Family - The Blood Ties has him in the lead. Then there is Rakesh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti. Sanjay Gupta's Zinda starring Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham and Celina Jaitley is the next big film.
