Finalists of Amrita’s TV’s ‘Superstar Global’ will battle it out in the last round on April 5.

final three: Jithendranath Ramachandran,Teena Joy and Roopa K.R.
They can carry a tune and have glam quality and attitude; characteristics needed to be a superstar. Roopa K.R., Teena Joy and Jithendranath Ramachandran (Jeetu) are the three finalists on Amrita’s TV’s ‘Superstar Global.’
Trained singers, Teena and Roopa are doing their graduation and post-graduation in music respectively, while Jeethu is an undergraduate student of commerce. The delighted finalists are on tenterhooks however, as the grand finale of the show is fast approaching. Albeit nervous, all three say that their mantra ‘Practice makes perfect’ give them strength.
“I spend hours at a stretch practising the song to be performed,” says Teena. However, luck plays an important role too, say these contestants. The show, which, on the lines of the popular U.S. show ‘American Idol,’ has viewers deciding the fate of the contestants via SMS.
Selection of song
According to Jeethu, picking the right song is the key to staying in the competition. “The judges advise us to select songs that will connect with the audience,” says Jeethu who has regaled the audience with a fine blend of Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam songs.
Teena, who feels that high pitched and melodies songs best suit her vocals, picked songs from mostly K.S. Chitra’s repertoire.
Roopa, however, says: “I joined the competition so that I could introduce the audience to my favourite songs. Most of them were rarely heard compositions.” The trio will battle it out live on Amrita Television on April 5.
