Indian, Chinese Red Army to carry out joint exercise
New Delhi (PTI): Indian and Chinese Red Army troops will carry out their first ever joint military exercise in mountains of Kunming in Yunnan province from December 19, army officials said here on Tuesday.
They said 88 troops and officers from India and an equal number of personnel from the Chinese army would take part in anti-terror tactics for nine days in the Yunnan highlands.
"The personnel would be divided into groups and carry out anti-terror manouvres including cordon and search operations, heliborne operations and other operations during the exercises", they said.
The dates and venue for the exercises was fixed during meetings a Chinese Red Army delegation had with their Indian counterparts in the Eastern Army Command headquarters at Fort Williams in Kolkata.
