  • N-deal: Nothing will be done in haste, says Pranab

Khargram (WB) (PTI): The Centre always accorded priority in safeguarding national interests while discussing the civil nuclear deal with the US and will not do anything without talking to all sides, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Sunday.

"Those having second views about the nuclear deal will have to be patiently taken into confidence before we move. Nothing will be done in haste," Mukherjee told reporters after addressing a function here in Murshidabad district.

To a question about the US government's wish to clinch the issue in a time-bound manner, Mukherjee said in the given situation in a country like India, where the views of all sides needed to be taken note of, the process of deliberation will take time.

The union minister's comments came in the wake of the demand at CPI(M) party congress for dismantling of the Indo-US military pact.
