Mumbai (IANS): The three-day confrontation with terror still loomed large but it was business as usual Monday morning with students packing into schools and colleges and people heading to work, four days after India's financial capital was brought to its knees.

Keeping up with their fabled never-say-die spirit, Mumbaikars in the morning left their homes in droves for their offices, schools and other businesses.

Shops and other business establishments also opened as roads at some places were jammed with traffic - a normal sign in the crowded city.

The Marine Drive area, near the Oberoi hotel, a favourite site of morning joggers, was also gradually regaining its lost bustle.

Normal life in the city that never sleeps was paralysed after terrorists, who officials said sneaked into Mumbai through the sea, attacked at least 10 places Wednesday night.

The terrorists -- believed to be at least 10 -- then held hundreds of people, including foreigners, hostages at two luxury hotels and a Jewish centre in south Mumbai.

At least 183 people, including 22 foreigners, were killed in the three-day-long terror drama that ended Saturday. Mopping up operations continued Sunday.

The elite National Security Guard (NSG) commandos and other security agencies engaged in the anti-terror operation took at least 60 hours to free the Taj and Trident-Oberoi hotels and the Nariman House from the terrorists Saturday.

But city residents are slowly leaving behind the memories of the gruesome attack to carry on with their routine life.
