  • Bridegrooms get 'wings' in Rajasthan

Jaipur (PTI): Expensive helicopter rides seem to be the latest fad among the grooms in Rajasthan who are going all the way to make their day memorable. Grooms hire helicopter either to reach the bride's place in it or to bring her back; or both.

Surendra Sambhariya of Jhunjhunu district is one such example who has booked a helicopter for February 27 to bring his newly-wed wife to his home in village Rundal in the district.

Surendra's father Bhagwan Sahay Sambhariya says it would be a proud moment for him when his son and daughter-in-law land in the village.

The groom is no doubt ecstatic over the development and can't stop thanking his father. "I never dreamed my father would surprise me by chartering a helicopter for this purpose which is the finest gift for my wife and also an innovative idea for making the occasion memorable," he says.

The trend, though, is not new to Rajasthan and is being observed for the past two years. The common recurrence, however, is being witnessed only now.
