  • Bengal CPI(M) declines to comment on Rahul's statement

Kolkata (PTI) With Rahul Gandhi giving clear signals of working with the Left parties in the post-poll scenario, Bengal CPI(M) on Tuesday declined to comment on it saying that post-poll discussion could be held after the elections.

"I don't like to pass any comment (on what Rahul Gandhi said). Post-poll discussion can be held in post-poll situation. It cannot be initiated before the election is over," CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Biman Bose told reporters here.

Mr. Bose's comment came when a newsman pointed out that Mr. Rahul Gandhi gave clear signals of working with the Left in the post poll scenario and expressed confidence that the Communists would accept a Congress-led government and Manmohan Singh as the prime minister.

Asked specifically whether he was ruling out Left support to a Congress-led government if the need arose, Mr. Bose replied "I have said on several occasions earlier that the decision will be taken in the post poll situation."

"We are working for a Third Front to come to power ...

The Third Front is based on secularism, independent foreign policy and pro-people programme. Before the election is over I cannot pass comment on what will happen in the post-poll situation."
