Cities all around India stop screening of Jo Bole So Nihal
Chennai, May. 23 (PTI/UNI): The screening of the controversial Hindi film 'Jo Bole So Nihal,' has been suspended here and in a number of cities around India.
While in Chennai, the suspension was for an 'indefinite' period, Indore said the suspension was only for today.
Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and Lucknow are among other cities to stop screening of this controversial film in the wake of the bomb blasts in two Delhi cinema halls last night, police said.
One person was killed and over 50 people injured in the blasts that occurred in two cinema halls in Delhi.
Kolkata too stopped the screening of 'Jo Bole So Nihal' in the city in view of Sunday night's bomb blasts in New Delhi, police said.
The film was being screened in seven cinema halls in the metropolis.
The decision to halt screening of the movie has been immediately conveyed to the cinema halls, they said.
Multiplexes in Pune screening the controversial Hindi film have also decided to cancel its shows today, police and cinema theatre sources said.
Pune police said majority of the theatre managers had informed them that they were cancelling the screening of the controversial movie.
Meanwhile in Indore, District Collector Rajesh Rajora told reporters said: "Screening of the controversial film has been suspended for a day in the city as a precautionary measure and a final decision on it will be taken after reviewing the situation."
In Uttar Pradesh the district administration is likely to withdraw its screening from three cinema houses in Lucknow from today.
Once the film is withdrawn from Lucknow theatres, the move is likely to be replicated in other districts of UP, sources added.
Screening stopped in Mumbai
The screening of Sunny Deol starrer 'Jo Bole So Nihal' has also been stopped in Mumbai since late Sunday as a precautionary measure in the wake of two bomb blasts in two Delhi movie halls where it was being shown.
Jt CP (Law and Order) Ahmed Javed told UNI that they had stopped screening of the movie to which a supreme Sikh body, Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC), had taken strong objection.
He said security at Sunny Deol's Juhu residence has been beefed up. The police have also been deployed at theatres across the city where the movie was being shown, he added.
Meanwhile, the producers of the film are holding a meeting to discuss the grave situation arising out of bomb blasts in Delhi theatres.
