BJP to demand PM's resignation in Budget Session: Katiyar

Varanasi, Jan. 29 (PTI): Holding that the Prime Minister was "as responsible" as Governor Buta Singh, for dissolution of the Bihar Assembly, the BJP has decided to raise the demand of his resignation on the issue during the Budget Session of Parliament starting next month.

"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was as much responsible for the dissolution of the house as the then Bihar Governor. Now that Buta Singh has quit in the light of the Supreme Court's adverse observations, the Prime Minister should follow suit," Vinay Katiyar, who was appointed BJP General Secretary in the new team under Rajnath Singh, told reporters here on Saturday.

He said the party would raise the demand for the Prime Minister's resignation on the issue during the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament.

Turning to the political situation in Uttar Pradesh, Katiyar claimed the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government would fall within six months.

He alleged that the government was inefficient and corrupt and that it had failed to maintain the law and order situation with criminals ruling the roost.

He said the state BJP had launched an agitation to rid the people of the "the Samajwadi Party-led alliance's misrule" and the results of the Mohammadabad Assembly elections would herald the beginning of the end of the present dispensation.

The seat in Ghazipur district fell vacant following the killing of BJP legislator Krishnanand Rai in a shootout in November.
