    Four militants killed in J&K

    Srinagar, July 27 (PTI): Four militants, including a self-styled district commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), were killed in three separate encounters with security forces in Pulwama and Bandipora districts of Jammu and Kashmir this morning, officials said.

    Sher Khan alias Fauji, a foreign militant and self-styled district commander of JeM, was killed in an overnight encounter at Arin in Bandipora district today, a defence spokesman said.

    One militant, identified as Abu Sa'ad who was self styled battalion commander of the outfit, was killed in the firefight with security forces yesterday.

    Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed at Woundcuckpora while another militant was killed in an ongoing encounter at Khanmoh near Pampore in Pulwama district this morning, police said.

    Acting on a tip off, police assisted by army troops cordoned of Woundcuckpora near Ratnipora this morning. The militants hiding in the house of one Bilal Ahmad Ganai, opened fire on the search party and in the retaliatory fire two local militants were killed, Additional Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom said.

    He identified the slain militants as Mushtaq Ahmad alias Burhan and Mohammad Shafi alias Furqan of Hizbul Mujahjideen.

    In another operation at Khanmoh near Pampore, one militant identified as Ghulam Ahmad Mangoo was killed, he said.

    A large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the three sites of encounter.
