Negotiation with Musharraf an act of treason: Imran
Islamabad, Aug. 29 (PTI): Pakistani cricketer turned politician Imran Khan has flayed former prime minister Benazir Bhutto for attempting a deal with President Pervez Musharraf, terming it an act of "treason" that will only strengthen dictatorship in the country.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (Movement for Justice party) party chief criticised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and its leadership for holding negotiations with President Musharraf, terming it a move against all democratic norms. "It is treason on the part of the political party which has always fought against military dictators," Imran said.
He alleged that by entering into negotiations with a military dictator, the PPP was strengthening dictatorship in Pakistan. He termed the negotiations a move to jeopardise democracy in Pakistan and said it was being done at the time when General Musharraf had become vulnerable.
Imran said at a press conference that the All Party Democratic Movement and his party would work together to bring about the failure of the negotiations between PPP and Musharraf. In regard to the war on terror, Khan said Pakistani forces were being used by outsiders for killing their own people.
