    Bucknor-Benson effigies burnt

Kanpur (PTI): Incensed cricket lovers on Sunday burnt effigies of umpires Steve Bucknor and Mark Benson, whose sub-standard umpiring was instrumental in India's 122 run defeat against Australia in the second cricket Test in Sydney.

Soon after India lost the match to hand Australia a 2-0 lead in the series, dozens of cricket fans came out on the strrts and shouted slogans against the umpires.

Later, they assembled at Deputy ka Parao and burnt effigies of the duo to give vent to their anger.

Fans also appealed the International Cricket Council to not depute the two umpires in India's next two Tests.

Fans felt had Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly not been ruled out, the result of the match could have been different.

The Test match was marred by a series of umpiring blunders, prompting Indian team management to lodge an official complaint against the umpires.
