    Taslima to be invited for Poets Convention

    Shimla, (PTI): A cultural organisation here has decided to invite controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen to All India Convention of Poets being organised by them.

    "We plan to organise an All India level Convention of Poets in Kullu in April-May in which Bangladeshi writer, Taslima Nasreen, will also be invited," president of Mahila Sahityakar Sansthan, Rita Singh said. Singh said she would soon meet Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal, to seek his cooperation for the meet.

    "We want the State to come into prominence in the field of art, culture and literature in the country and the convention will be a step in that direction," she said. Singh, who had met Nasreen in Delhi recently to express solidarity with her, said the Bangladeshi writer would be invited in the convention in the state.

    Besides, Nasreen, leading lights of literature like Kushwant Singh, Padamshree awardee Sunita Jain, Mridula Sinha, Mahua Manjhi, Mehru Neesha and Rekha Vyas would be participating in the meet.
