Ramadoss meets Manmohan on creamy layer

New Delhi (PTI): A day after the government decided to go ahead with the implementation of the quota in elite educational institutions, PMK, a ruling UPA ally, on Friday insisted that creamy layer should not be excluded from its purview.

PMK leader S Ramadoss met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and requested that the government take all measures to include the creamy layer in the OBC reservation in order to ensure that the benefits reach them.

Ramadoss said the Prime Minister assured to discuss the creamy layer issue at various levels in order to find a solution, though the implementation will start this year.

He also drew the attention of Singh on the frequent "attacks" on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy and asked the government to take measures to stop them.

The PMK leader also met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and thanked her for OBC reservation in higher educational institutions.
