New Delhi (PTI): An alumni association of IIMs on Friday approached the Delhi High Court seeking to restrain the Centre from providing quota for OBC students in higher educational institutions, including in IIMs.

The association contended that the government had misinterpreted the Supreme Court judgement, which while upholding the OBC reservation policy, had said that it would not be applicable to the higher educational institutions.

"The ratio of the constitution bench judgment is clear and it says that reservation is not available in post-graduate courses," the association contended before a Bench comprising Justices T S Thakur and Siddharth Mirdul.

The Bench after brief hearing sought the response of the Centre.

The government, however, sought some time to go through the judgment before responding to the contentions raised by the association.
