Chidambaram to attend ADB annual meet at Madrid
New Delhi (PTI): Finance Minister P Chidambaram, along with other senior officials, will be leaving for Madrid, Spain, on Saturday to attend the 41st meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) beginning May 3.
The Indian delegation to the ADB, which is meeting amid fears of global slowdown and food crisis, would include Finance Secretary D Subba Rao, TERI Chairman Rajendra K Pachauri and Infrastructure Finance Development Co CEO Rajiv Lall.
Among other things, the four-day ADB meeting, to be attended by finance ministers and central bankers of different countries, would discuss the economic outlook for the Asia- Pacific region and issues relating to poverty reduction and climate change.
The ADB board of governors would also finalise the long- term strategic framework for 2008-2020 - Strategy 2020 - to improve regional cooperation and integration.
Rao is slated to address a conference on "Strategy 2020: The Asian Development Bank's New Long-Term Strategic Framework (2008-2020) - Opportunities and the Road Ahead".
