Pak. activists, students on goodwill visit to India
New Delhi (PTI): A group of youth activists and students from Pakistan is on a goodwill visit to India to enlist the help of young Parliamentarians to promote peace moves and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
"What we want is more and more interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. We want young Parliamentarians of both countries to come together and join hands for a long lasting friendship," Bilal Ahmed Rana, coordinator of the Pakistan chapter of Indo-Pak Youth Forum for Peace, said here on Tuesday.
Rana, who is leading the 24-member Pakistani delegation which includes two Hindus, said through this forum they want to provide the young people of both sides a platform to interact with and understand each other.
The delegation, during its five-day stay, will visit Udaipur and Ahmedabad and interact with locals and students.
Rana said the group members are very excited about their visit. He said the group plans to work in three phases. "In the first phase, we would have cultural and religious exchanges. We will choose 30 people each from both sides and bring them together for discussion on these issues," he said.
"Then, we will approach young Parliamentarians of India and Pakistan and arrange interaction programmes for them. We have identified five to six such MPs in our country," Rana said, adding in the last phase the business community from both sides would be brought together.
"If we will work together, we will be in a position to influence global politics," he said.
Aneel Kumar, a student of Lahore University, said he wants to pursue higher studies in India. "I want to join the IIM," he said.
