NRI trader twice over drink limit when killed in car crash

London (PTI): An NRI city trader was over twice the drink-drive limit when he was killed in a car crash, an inquest has been told.

Twenty-five-year-old Andrew Singh, was drunk when he was driving at 70mph in a 30mph zone and he repeatedly swerved from one lane to another and crashed into a taxi outside a pub in King's Road in south-west London on October 3 last year, the inquest was told on Friday.

Andrew Singh, who is the nephew of millionaire Tom Singh, founder of fashion chain New Look, was pronounced dead at the scene after being cut from the wreckage of his Mercedes.

The taxi driver, Raymond Jones, of South Woodford, east London, has lost the use of his legs and will never walk again.

His passenger, Francis Morin, suffered a broken hip, wrist, radius and knee, and lost four front teeth.

Paul Knapman, who was Westminster coroner, recorded a narrative verdict.
