Britain condemns bomb attacks in Bangalore, Ahmedabad

London (PTI): Britain on Monday condemned in the "strongest terms" the terror attacks in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, describing them as "cowardly actions."

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said Britain "condemned these cowardly actions in the strongest possible terms".

"I was shocked to hear of the two bombing outrages carried out against the populations of Bangalore and Ahmedabad on Friday and Saturday. Particularly callous was the attack in Ahmedabad targeting the hospital where many of the relatives of the dead and injured from the first wave of bombs were gathered," he said.

"Our thoughts are with the families of the dead and injured. The UK condemns these cowardly actions in the strongest possible terms," he said in a statement.

Miliband said the attacks were carried out to divide the communities.

"They are clearly designed to divide peoples and communities. It is important that these deliberate provocations do not succeed," he said.

Forty-nine people were killed and 145 injured in a string of bomb attacks in Ahmedabad on Saturday. A wave of bombings earlier struck Bangalore, leaving two people dead.
