NRI builder honoured for raising funds for Roko Cancer
London (PTI): An NRI builder has been honoured at a reception in the House of Lords for raising funds for ROKO Cancer, a charity operating mobile clinics for detection of Breast Cancer in India.
Surinder Singh Aujla, Managing Director, Empress Building Centre Ltd, was presented a trophy by A P S Chawla, founder chairman of the Roko Cancer Trust, for cycling from London to Bristol to raise funds for ROKO Cancer.
Describing breast cancer as a calamity for the whole family if a member is afflicted, Chawla said 90 per cent of the cancer could be cured if detected at the early stages.
He said during the last two and a half years, the two mobile clinics in India had screened 25,000 women for breast cancer and 6,000 have undergone mammography.
"Not only the entire India, I would like to provide the facility in Pakistan as well," Chawla said.
