Pak. seeks strict measures against terrorism

Islamabad (PTI): Pakistan on Thursday deplored the deadly terror attacks in Mumbai, seeking "strict measures" and "concerted efforts" to eradicate terrorism and extremism from the region.

In separate statements, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the multiple terror strikes in India's financial capital that claimed over 100 lives.

Zardari stressed the need for taking "strict measures to eradicate terrorism and extremism" while Gilani sought "concerted efforts" to make the region a peaceful place to live in.

In a statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, currently on an official visit to India, condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai that led to the "unfortunate loss of innocent lives".

Terrorism is a menace threatening humanity, which should join hands in fighting this scourge, Qureshi said.

The attacks came hours after India and Pakistan affirmed their resolve to cooperate with each other to combat the menace following talks between their Home Secretaries.
