Musharraf gets philosophical while speaking of Indo-Pak tension

Islamabad (PTI): "Wait and see, but we must pray for the motherland," this was how former President Pervez Musharraf reacted when asked about the growing tensions between India and Pakistan following the Mumbai terror attacks.

Musharraf made these philosophical remarks at a dinner hosted by a leading banker here while interacting with the guests, who were caught by surprise at his presence at the event on Thursday night.

The former military ruler, who resigned in August to avoid impeachment by the Pakistan People's Party-led government, looked relaxed as he spoke with the guests about the situation in the country and the region.

"Wait and see, but we must pray for the motherland," Musharraf said, when he was asked about the situation in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks and subsequent tensions between India and Pakistan.

Musharraf did not speak about any role he might play in future in the political arena, 'The News' daily reported.

Banker Ghalib Nashtar, who lives close to the farmhouse Musharraf has built in Chak Shahzad area on the outskirts of Islamabad, hosted the dinner that was also attended by executives of various firms.

Musharraf has maintained a low profile since his resignation and recently travelled to Britain on his first visit abroad after he stepped down as President.
