    Chinese automakers meet Buddhadeb

Kolkata (IANS): Chinese auto major First Automobile Works (FAW) officials on Monday met West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and discussed proposals for setting up an automobile manufacturing facility in the state.

"The FAW officials had come. They earlier visited Haldia and spoke to their Indian partners. They are studying the possibilities. They will give us concrete proposals," state Industry Secretary Sabyasachi Sen told reporters here.

FAW has teamed up with Ural India, an Indo-Russian joint venture, and is scouting for 600 acres for setting up a facility.

The FAW representatives had earlier visited Singur, Haldia and Kharagpur.

Ural India chairman J.K. Saraf said the delegation comprised the officials of the bus division of the Chinese company.

"The small car division people will come next week," he said.
