    Landmine blast in Lalgarh

Lalgarh/Bankura (PTI): Suspected Maoists exploded a landmine at a field near the block development office in Lalgarh even as security forces recovered a landmine in Maoist-affected Sarenga area in neighbouring Bankura district.

Deputy Inspector General Praveen Kumar said no one was injured in the blast and that police had launched a search operation to nab the culprits.

Meanwhile, a joint team of police and para-military forces unearthed a landmine during a search operation from near a road at Tantidanga village under Sarenga police station.

The landmine was kept hidden in a large can of edible oil, official sources said, adding the mine was later diffused.
