PMO asked CBI to re-open case against Advani in Babri case: BJP

New Delhi, Dec. 23 (PTI): The BJP on Wednesday charged the Prime Minister's Office with "misusing" CBI to "re-open" the Babri demolition case against its President L K Advani.

"A senior official in the Prime Minister's Office has written to CBI asking the agency to re-open the case against Advani," BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters.

He said BJP was in possession of a copy of the letter written by the Prime Minister's Office which said legal opinion should be sought to re-open the case against Advani in Babri Masjid demolition case in which a special court in Rae Bareli had acquitted him.

PMO officials could not be reached for their comments.
