New Delhi, Dec. 2. (PTI): Top BJP leaders, including party president L K Advani, today prayed for the release of Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati arrested in connection with a murder case.

Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj and Janakrishna Murty, all saffron party leaders, and former BJP ideologue Govindacharya were among those who attended the prayer meet lasting two hours at Sri Devi Kamakshi temple here.

The leaders prayed for early release of the Pontiff.

"The Sankaracharya has always prayed for peace and welfare of all of us. Devotees must collectively pray for him and to save our dharma," Ulachi Ganesan, executive trustee, Devi Kamakshi Mandir, told mediapersons here.
