Raj Television to launch 11 new channels
Mumbai, April. 11 (PTI): Leading Tamil TV broadcaster Raj Television Network will launch 11 new channels, including a Hindi national channel.
The board of directors, at its meeting yesterday, approved the proposal for launching 11 new channels, Raj Television informed the BSE.
The company did not divulge details of the expansion plan.
The South Indian television space is currently dominated by Kalanidhi Maran promoted Sun TV, which recently merged rival channels Udaya TV and Gemini TV, to capture a much larger market share.
Raj TV, which recently made its debut in the equity market had mopped up around Rs 92 crores through the public issue.
Earlier the company had inked an agreement with the Singapore Government-owned TV-12 for supplying programmes to be telecast in that country. Raj-TV is also negotiating with TV channels in Malaysia for beaming its programmes.
The agreement with TV-12 would help the company to offer the entire bouquet of Raj-TV channels to South East Asian viewers, Raj Television Network Director M Raveendran said.
