Tsunami rehabilitation: Kerala-Maharashtra sign MoU
Thiruvananthapuram, April 17. (PTI): Kerala and Maharashtra on Sunday night signed an agreement on the rehabilitation of tsunami-hit people in the southern State, as per which the latter would implement a Rs 12-crore package.
As per the MoU signed in the presence of Maharashtra Co-operation and Rehabilitation Minister Patangrao Kadam and Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran, Rs 9 crore would be spent for building houses in Alappad area of Kollam district and Rs 3 crore for improving facilities at Karunagapally Taluk Hospital.
The agreement was signed by the Government secretaries of the department concerned of the two States, official sources said.
The land for houses would be acquired by the Kerala Government, the sources said.
