Haryana, Punjab record cold temperatures
Chandigarh (PTI): Narnaul town in Haryana was on Saturday recorded as the coldest place in plains of Northern India with minimum temperature plummeting to 8.5 degree celsius.
Mercury dropped considerably across Haryana and in neighbouring Punjab.
While the minimum temperature at Narnaul dropped five degree below normal, Ambala too recorded a cold night at 10.8 degree celsius, two degree below normal, the Meteorological department said here.
Karnal recorded a minimum of 11.8 degree celsius, two below normal, while Rohtak and Hisar registered 11.6 degree and and 14.7 degree celsius respectively.
Chandigarh also had a cold night at 12 degrees celsius, which was two degree below normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 11.5 degree celsius while Ludhiana was cooler by a degree than normal recording a temperature of 11.8 degree celsius.
Patiala recorded a low of 12.3 degree celsius, a degree below normal. The Met department has forecast mainly sunny days in the region over the next two days.
