No one will be spared in Mumbai riots case: Cong.
New Delhi (PTI): Amid reports that Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was being shielded in cases pertaining to the Mumbai riots, the Congress on Thursday said that no one will be spared and it would not be easy for anyone to escape from the jaws of law.
"There is no such thing. Whenever evidence is there, the state government will not not hesitate to file a chargesheet against any person," AICC Media Department chairman M Veerappa Moily told reporters.
His comments came in the backdrop of reports that the Congress-led government would not file an appeal against Thackeray whose editorials in the Sena mouthpiece 'Samana' were alleged to have incited rioters in 1992-93.
Moily said he had talked to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who has assured him of action wherever evidence is available.
"I will not get into individual cases, but law will take its own course. Maharashtra government has not obstructed justice, not interfered politically," he said, adding that it would not spare anyone.
He also made it clear there was no question of taking any political revenge.
Moily insisted that even Congress President Sonia Gandhi is keen to ensure that nothing is done that would obstruct justice.
