Maharashtra CM's son weds TV actor
Mumbai: Marashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's son Amit on Thursday tied the knot with television actor Aditi Pratap Ghorpade at a ceremony here that was attended by bigwigs from politics, business and entertainment world.
Amit and Aditi exchanged vows in Maharashtrian style amid tunes of shehnai and 'chaughada' (drum) at the 'muhurat' set at 12.51 pm. Traditional rituals were performed in the presence of few relatives, family friends and political colleagues of Deshmukh.
Those present at the function at the Grand Hyatt hotel in the suburbs included Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, senior Congress leaders Oscar Fernandes, Ghulam Nabi Azad, thespian Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu.
A traditional wedding procession took place in the morning near the hotel with Amit sitting on a decorated horse. Amit's father, actor-brother Ritesh and state minister Harshwardhan Patil, all wearing pink turbans, were seen dancing.
Maharashtrian food like masala bhaat, thalipith besides sweets like jalebis and ladoos were served to guests.
Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, Union Ministers Suryakanta Patil and Prithviraj Chavan, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, MNS president Raj Thackeray and wife Sharmila, Chief Secretary Johny Joseph, Maharashtra Congress president Prabha Rau, State PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, BJP leader Gopinath Munde, Congress leader Gurudas Kamat and social activists Anna Hazare were among those who attended the wedding.
The Bollywood was also not behind with Hema Malini, Karan Johar, Sanjay Khan and Rani Mukherjee present on the occasion to bless the newly-wed couple.
