Plane lands on runway closed for maintenance, DGCA probe on
Mumbai (PTI): The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday initiated a probe into an incident at the airport here involving a GoAir flight, which landed on a runway closed for maintenance work.
"We are conducting a probe as to how the GoAir flight landed on the runway which was closed for maintenance work," a DGCA official told PTI here.
He, however, declined to elaborate further on the issue.
A Chennai-Mumbai GoAir flight (G8-352) had landed on a runway at around 1210 hours on Friday. The runway had been closed by the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) authorities for maintenance work.
When contacted, a GoAir official denied any fault on the private airline's side.
The aircraft landed after receiving clearance from the Air Traffic Controller (ATC), the official said.
"Our flight G8-352 landed only after receiving the necessary clearance to land from the Mumbai ATC," the official said in a statement here.
An MIAL spokesperson declined to comment on the incident on the ground that the DGCA was investigating the matter.
