Etawah (UP) (PTI): Two youths in an inebriated condition thrashed a Dalit and then set him afire in a village here on Sunday night, the police said.

Deep Jatav, who suffered serious burn injuries, is battling for life in a hospital, they said adding the incident happened in Kothi Chandanpur village.

Police said the two fled from the scene after attacking the Dalit, adding a hunt was on to nab them.

The reason why they set him ablaze was not immediately known.
