    Vilasrao Deshmukh meets Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi (PTI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.

The meeting came following the resignation of senior minister Narayan Rane, a known detractor of the Chief Minister who has recently launched a fresh attack against Deshmukh.

Rane had submitted his resignation to Gandhi last month.

The meeting also assumes significance as the AICC has announced that a new PCC President for the state would be in place in a few days.

The post has been lying vacant for the past few days with incumbent Prabha Rau being made the Himachal Pradesh governor.
