New Delhi (PTI): With floods causing havoc in Bihar, Janta Dal (U) leader George Fernandes on Friday appealed to all political parties, social organisations and common people to collectively take part in the relief work.

"Nobody would have imagined the havoc caused by swollen Kosi river. There is a huge loss to life and property in north Bihar districts like Purnea, Saharsa, Madhepura, Araria and Supaul.

"Hence apart from efforts of the government, there is a need for collective participation of political parties, social organisations and people to take part in the relief work," Fernandes said.

The senior parliamentarian hailing from the flood-hit state appealed to all sessions to unitedly take part in the rescue and relief operations.
