    'India Aviation 2008' attracts industry majors

    New Delhi (PTI): The world's largest aircraft Airbus A-380 and a host of classy business jets and other aeroplanes and helicopters will be on display when the first civilian airshow begins in Hyderabad next month.

    As many as 37 top executives of aircraft and engine manufacturers, airlines, airport operators and aviation technology firms have already confirmed participation at the 'India Aviation 2008', being organised by the Civil Aviation Ministry and FICCI, from October 15-18, an official spokesperson said here.

    The event, which would include a series of seminars and conferences, is being supported by the US Commercial Service and the American Chamber of Commerce in India which has led almost all major US companies to participate.

    Besides flying and static display of aircraft and choppers, the event would have several country pavilions including those from the US, Canada and Germany, along with chalets of a large number of aviation-related firms, both foreign and Indian.

    Along with the 'superjumbo' A-380, 36 types of aircraft which are all set to be displayed include Citation series of small jets, Cessna, Learjet, Skyhawk, Hawker series of planes and Bell helicopters.

    Top officials of major foreign firms including Airbus Industrie, Boeing, Embraer, Bell, Dassault Aviation, EADS, ATR, Rolls Royce and Thales would participate in the event.

    The Indian side would be represented by the top managements of Airports Authority of India, Air India, Pawan Hans, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines and a host of private airport operators, besides state-owned HAL and NAL.
