63.35 per cent turn out in MP re-poll
Bhopal (PTI): Re-poll was conducted peacefully at 31 polling booths in Madhya Pradesh today with 63.35 per cent electorates exercising their right to franchise, a senior eloctoral official said.
"63.35 per cent polling was recorded in the repolling at 31 polling booths in the state where polls for the state Assembly was held on November 27," state Additional Chief Electoral Officer Ashish Shrivastava told reporters.
The repoll was peaceful and no major untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the state, he said, adding that it was necessitated as irregularities were reported by concerned poll officials on the day of polling from these polling stations.
However, a report from Morena said that the BSP candidate, Azab Singh, was arrested by the police for violating model code of conduct at Ghugas re-polling station under Sumavali Assembly seat in the Morena district, official sources said.
But Shrivastava said he is not in a position to confirm the incident as detailed reports on the issue is not yet received by the state election office.
He also informed that all formalities for the counting of votes on December 8 have been completed in the state by enrolling the services of 6,000 employees.
