Scindia follows Rahul Gandhi's footstep, spends night at village

Ashoknagar/Guna (MP) (PTI): Following the footsteps of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi Union Minister of State for Communications and IT Jyotiraditya Scindia has spent a night at village Devkhedi where he slept on a cot of a scheduled caste person Gokalia.

Scindia reached Devkhedi on Sunday night around 10 pm and knocked the door of Gokalia without any scheduled programme. Stunned by seeing a member of the Scindia family, which had ruled the region for ages, Gokalia offered him to sit on a cot.

Scindia took the opportunity to interact with him to have the first hand experience of the problems of the village. Later, Gokalia mustered lot of courage and asked Scindia, who is popularly called as 'Maharaja' in the area to have food at his residence, which Scindia heartily accepted.

While the family members of Gokalia busy preparing 'Dal-Bati' for Scindia, he utilised the opportunity to interact with other villagers who were gathered in large numbers outside Gokalia's hut to have a glimpse of their own Maharaja.

As it was too late and Scindia was enjoying the nightlife of the village, he decided to spend the night in the village itself and asked all those accompanying him to proceed to Ashoknagar.
