New Delhi (PTI): Moved by the story of a minor girl who put her foot down on marriage and forced her family to agree, President Pratibha Patil now wants to invite the girl to the magnificent presidential palace.

The President's secretariat has already asked the secretary of West Bengal Governor to find more details about the 12-year-old bidi-roller girl -- Rekha Kalindi, who hails from Purulia district of the state.

Kalindi reportedly refused to marry the person whom her parents had chosen because she wanted to study further and this act has now apparently brought an end to child marriage in the locality where she stays.

"The President read about her and expressed her desire to meet the little girl. The meeting would take place once the President returns from her foreign trip on April 27," a Rashtrapati spokesperson said.
