Mumbai (PTI): A 23-year-old woman has been admitted to the Kasturba Hospital in central Mumbai after she showed symptoms of A H1N1, health authorities said.

The woman, who had gone recently to Australia, returned to the city on June 18 and went to a hospital in south Mumbai the next day after she caught fever, Dr Pradeep Awate, head of the state health department's influenza cell, said.

"She was admitted to the Kasturba Hospital this morning and her throat swab samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune, the results of which are expected tomorrow," Awate said.

Health authorities also expect to receive the reports of a 24-year-old man who has been quarantined at the hospital.

One confirmed case of A H1N1 has been reported in the city so far.
