China to hold joint anti-terror drill with Russia
Beijing, Sept. 1 (PTI): A brigade of China's armed police flew to Russia today for the first-ever joint anti-terrorism drill.
Two military transport planes carried the group of 30 armed police for the drill named "Cooperation 2007", Xinhua news agency reported.
The Snow Leopard Commando, the 13th Special Brigade of the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) Beijing Corps, is scheduled to join the joint exercise with Russia's domestic security force in Moscow in early September.
The brigade, a first-class anti-terror force guarding China's national capital, was established in December 2002.
So far, it has handled over 90 major urgent cases and took part in about a dozen military drills and performances, the report said.
"Cooperation 2007" will be the first international anti-terrorism exercise for China's armed police outside the country.
