    Vietnam War-era mortar shell explodes, kills 1, injures 2

    Hanoi (AP): A man was killed and two others were seriously injured when a Vietnam War-era mortar exploded in Cu Pao village, in Dak Lak province.

    One of the mortars exploded when they tried to open it, the Tuoi Tre(Youth) Newspaper reported. Bui Huu Tam, 28, was killed instantly. The explosion also seriously injured two others, who were still hospitalised, the paper said. Dak Lak is 350 kilometers northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

    Unexploded ordnance from the Vietnam War has killedabout 38,000 people since the conflict ended in 1975. (AP)
