UN peacekeeping operation to continue in Sudan

United Nations (PTI): A day after the International Criminal Court prosecutor sought arrest warrants against Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad Al Bashir, the UN on Tuesday said its peacekeeping operations in Sudan will continue to carry out their functions in an impartial manner.

The ICC prosecutor on Monday sought arrest warrants against Bashir charging him with masterminding the Darfur genocide that claimed 35,000 lives and committing crimes against humanity.

In a statement, the world body said it would continue its vital humanitarian and development work in the African nation.
