Quake rocks eastern Indonesia
JAKARTA (Xinhua): An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted eastern parts of Indonesia on Thursday, but there were no reports of damage or casualties, the Indonesian Meteorology Agency said.
The quake struck at 09:59 Jakarta time (0259 GMT) with epicenter at 58 kilometers southeast Raba of West Nusa Tenggara province and 101 kilometers in depth, an official of the agency said.
Indonesia sits at a vulnerable zone, so called "the Pacific Ring of Fire" where two continental plates, stretching from the Western Hemisphere through Japan and Southeast Asia, meet that causes frequent volcanic movements.
