Medvedev urges "new solutions" for globe
MOSCOW (AP): Russia's president will call for concerted action on the financial crisis and push his idea for a new European security treaty at an international conference in France.
Dmitry Medvedev says events in Iraq, the Caucasus and elsewhere have shown that the existing global security architecture is faulty.
He has called for discussion of a new security system stretching from ``Vancouver to Vladivostok'' that he has been pitching to European leaders since June amid Russian anger over NATO's expansion. Reactions have been cautious.
Medvedev says he will talk about that proposal and about the need for a concerted response to global economic turbulence Wednesday at a conference in Evian, France.
Medvedev spoke in a video clip posted on the Kremlin Web site Tuesday.
