William hoodwinked officers to stag party trip in chopper
London (PTI): Prince William, the second in line to the British throne, hoodwinked his commanding officers to attend a stag party and a wedding in military helicopters.
According to documents released under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act, William used the RAF Chinook as his personal taxi service. It was clear neither William nor his aides informed senior officers of the "true nature" of two Chinook training flights which the Prince used to attend a stag party and a wedding.
"Prince William accepts that the sorties were nave and accepts his share of the responsibility for what happened," a royal spokesman was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph on Sunday.
The prince plans to train as a search and rescue pilot. "The time I spent with the RAF earlier this year made me realise how much I love flying," he had said earlier. The flights, which the British daily said the 26-year-old prince himself planned, took place in April this year when he was on a four-month attachment with the RAF.
The flights included a trip over his father's country house Highgrove in southwest England; practice landings in a field next to girlfriend Kate Middleton's family home; a trip to a wedding in northeast England; picking up his brother Prince Harry from London to take him to a stag do and "buzzing" the royal residence at Sandringham, eastern England, the paper said.
