Beijing (PTI): With a view to reduce energy wastage, China will recycle flags and posters used in Beijing Olympics into everyday utility items.

The Beijing Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) yesterday announced its plans to recycle flags and large posters, used to publicise the Olympics, into decoration and other items of everyday use, the Xinhua said.

Zhao Dongming, the BOCOG cultural activities director, said the materials would be designed to make more than ten kinds of articles, including cushions, pillows, vests and newspaper stands.

Zhao said the BOCOG had thought about the reuse of those materials before the Games.
