PG Diploma Course in Communications and PR soon
Coimbatore, April 28. (PTI): Anna University, Coimbatore would start a PG Diploma Course on Communications and Public Relations from June, its Vice-Chancellor Dr R Radhakrishnan said on Friday.
The syllabus for the course has been designed by the Chennai-based Prime Point Foundation, which would be finalised by the middle of the next month, he told reporters here.
"For the first time in the World, an academic course is designed by the professional community through 'WIKI,' the newest form of social media," Radhakrishnan said.
There would be eight papers for the course and the first batch would have 30 students, he said.
To start with, the University would open a media lab, from where the activities would be diversified, Radhakrishnan said, adding that it would be decided whether to open a Centre or department for the diploma course.
K Srinivasan, chairman of the foundation, said that it would extend the communication awareness programmes for the benefit of professionals and corporates in the region.
As every organisation needed to develop their communication strategies to survive in the market, considering the present competitive environment, there was a huge demand for public relations candidates in the country, he said.
