    Punjab to spend Rs 1300 cr on socio-economic development

    Chandigarh, Aug. 22 (PTI): The Punjab government would spend Rs 1380 Crore for socio economic development of Scheduled Caste during 2007-08, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Welfare Minister, said here on Tuesday.

    Presiding over a high-level review meeting for the implementation of scheduled castes sub plan as promised by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP Alliance in its election manifesto, he asked concerned officers for implementation of Maharashtra model for scheduled castes sub plan and complete the work in stipulated time.

    The Minister said strict action would be initiated against erring officials who would be responsible for any delay.
