The protesters set up road blockades, disrupted vehicular movement, burnt effigies of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and his son H D Kumaraswamy and raised slogans against JD-S's "acts of betrayal", according to reports reaching here.

Shikaripur, the home turf of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, witnessed a spontaneous bandh and people of the town resorting to traffic blockade, reports said. Protests were held in several parts of Shimoga district, Hubli, Chamarajnagar, Davanagere. In Bhadravathi, a crowd torched a cutout of Kumaraswamy.

The BJP has organised a protest in the city on wednesday against the JD-S.
